Colorado (/kɒləˈrædoʊ/, or /kɒləˈrɑːdoʊ/) (Spanish for “ruddy”) is a U.S. state encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains.
